Father's Day = Wobbly Boots Roadhouse

Father's Day is just around the corner, and we know here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse that we've got what your dad will love for his F-A-T-H-E-R-S  D-A-Y. Let us spell it out for you...

F = FLAVOR
To give you our marvelous menu, we created a unique blend of the flavors & styles of the BBQ mecca’s of the United States: Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis, Texas, and the deep south.  On top of that, our house-recipe sauce (that we make right here!) perfectly compliments the already delicious flavor!

A = AROMA
You'll be able to smell our mouth-watering menu when you walk through the door.  Maybe even in the parking lot when you get out of your car!

T = TENDER
Our meats are generously coated in our special dry rub and smoked low and slow over hickory for maximum flavor & tenderness

H = HEAT
Does your dad like it hot?  Our El Diablo is a real mouth-burner!  We cover our 100% hand-pattied black angus burger with ghost pepper cheese, bacon, jalapenos, and our chipotle buffalo sauce.  If he likes the heat, this choice will not disappoint.

E = ENJOYABLE
Besides the amazing menu and barbecue process we've been mentioning already, your pop will love the down-home, family friendly atmosphere we host here at the Boot.  He can even keep an eye on all of his sports stats and favorite games on one of our 17 televisions from any seat in the place.

R = REFRESHING
He's gonna need to wash that fabulous food down with something.  If your father's a beer drinker, we've got ice cold bottles of beer and 18 tasty varieties on tap.  The bar is fully stocked for mixing cocktails, and we have plenty of non-alcoholic choices too.  We offer Pepsi products, along with good old-fashioned sweet tea.

S = SMOKED
Our hickory smoked, tender, juicy, downright scrumptious meats are the best in Iowa.  Dad can have pulled pork, beef brisket, burnt ends, turkey breast, pit ham, or smoked sausage.  We also smoke our wings, ribs, meatloaf, and shaved prime rib.

D = DIP, DRIZZLE, or DRENCH
Which way to you prefer our delicious, house-made Wobbly Boots BBQ sauce? You can have your meats served dry, and then either dunk them in our savory sauce, drizzle it over the top, or go crazy and drench the plate in that amazing flavor.

A = APPETITE
The smell will whet your appetite as you walk in the door, and our gigantic servings and large variety of choices are guaranteed to quench that appetite before you leave.  Most likely, you'll need a doggy bag for some of it.

Y = YUM!
A very simple word that sums up a very satisfying experience.

Bring Dad on in to the best BBQ restaurant in Iowa this Father's Day. We will treat him like a king, and you get to enjoy a great meal out yourself.  Give your father the night off from the grill and let us take care of everything.  He deserves it!

6 Great Reasons to Choose Wobbly Boots Roadhouse

Sure, there are plenty of places to pick from when you decide to go out to eat, but all of us here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse truly believe that we have the best restaurant in Iowa, as do lots of loyal, regular customers.  We would love for you to be one of those customers, and here are six great reasons why we think that you will be if you choose to join us at The Boot.

1. Best BBQ in Iowa
Award winning BBQ is what we are known for.  Our smoked meats are prepared using a unique, hybrid style, blending the flavors of the BBQ mecca's of the good ol' U.S.of A. - Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis, Texas, and the deep south.  We generously coat the meats with our special dry rub, then smoke them low and slow over hickory for maximum flavor and tenderness.  On top of all that, we make our very own house-recipe sauce to be added as light or as heavy as your taste buds desire.  You can even purchase a 16 oz. bottle of this amazing sauce to take home with you!

2. More than just BBQ
You don't have to be a BBQ lover to find something delicious to eat at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse.  We have a large selection of "bar food' on our appetizer menu, including Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, Texas Fries, and our Famous Onion Rings.  We offer large, tasty salads, flatbreads, and wraps.  Our 100% hand-pattied Black Angus Burgers are the best in the Midwest.  The down home sandwiches menu includes a southern-style Catfish Filet and the best Hand-Breaded Pork Tenderloin in Iowa.  We even feature some southern comfort food and dinner specialties, including a Prime Rib dinner every Friday and Saturday evening.

3. Great kids' menu
The young'ns can order some pretty incredible choices of their own in kid-friendly portions, and their drink comes along with it in a special Wobbly Boot's kid's cup. We have a burger, boneless wings, grilled cheese, mini corn dogs, and pork sliders which all come with fries, or our mouth-watering mac & cheese boat.  As an added bonus, Mom & Dad get a little peace and quiet while the kids' mouths are full!

4. Fully stocked bar & 18 draft beers
We've got enough bottles behind our bar that be assured if we don't have your favorite drink, we'll be able to mix you up a new fave!  Our bar even keeps copper mugs on hand for a variety of Moscow Mules.  If you haven't tried one of those yet, you are in for a treat.  The tap tower offers 18 inviting varieties, including some locally brewed selections.  We have the best Happy Hour every Monday through Friday from 3 pm - 6 pm with incredible specials on our beers and mixed drinks.

5. Great place to watch the game
Our place has 17 different televisions, and whatever's on can be seen from both the bar area and the restaurant tables.  You can join us to root for all of your favorite sports teams.  The more people cheering, the more exciting the whole place gets!  It's the next best thing to actually being at the game, and the drinks cost a lot less than at the stadium.

6. You'll feel right at home
We love it here, and we want you to feel the same way about The Boot.  Our servers will always be available to make sure that you have everything that you need for the best dining experience possible.  The kitchen always takes extra-special care in every dish that they prepare, and our bartenders are here to make sure you never go thirsty and the games you want to watch are always on. When you come to Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, we will do everything in our power to make you feel like family and that you belong here.  Stop on by soon and let us get to know you better.

5 Interesting Facts About the Stanley Cup

The first of 7 possible games for the 2015 Stanley Cup started last night.  If you are looking for the best place to watch the game in Des Moines, look no further than The Boot!  Our beloved Chicago Blackhawks are in the running once again.  Here are a few fun facts about the Stanley Cup to spark some conversation during all of those commercial breaks.

1. Who was Stanley?

Sir Frederick Arthur Stanley, Lord Stanley of Preston, was the 1892 Governor General of Canada.  He and his family became huge fans of hockey at Montreal's 1889 Winter Carnival. Lord Stanley purchased a decorative cup in London for around $50 that he gave as a donation to award Canada's top amateur hockey club.

2. A new cup is not reproduced every year, but it's always changing.

The Stanley Cup is the oldest trophy given out in competition in North America. Instead of giving the new champions their own Cup to keep, they are given the Stanley Cup for just that year.  Five, detachable rings are added to the bottom of it with winners names engraved each year.  When these rings become full, they are taken off and preserved in Lord Stanley's Vault in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

3. There are actually 3 "one-of-a-kind" Stanley Cups.

The original Stanley Cup is now actually preserved and on display in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.  A Presentation Cup was created in 1963 and is the official Cup awarded to this day.  The third Cup is a replica of the Presentation Cup and is used as a stand-in at the Hall of Fame when the Presentation Cup is not there.

4. The Stanley Cup has a chaperone.

The Cup always has at least one representative that has absolute power over everything to do with the Stanley Cup.  Lord Stanley insisted on this so that it was kept in proper condition.  This is important due to the fact that the Cup is always on the go.  Each player on the winning team gets one day to keep the Cup to do with as they wish.  This has been a tradition since 1995.

5. The cup's travels are logged in a journal.

Since each player is given 24 hours with the Cup, a journal was started to record it's travels.  You can follow the Stanley Cup Journal on the Official Site of the Hockey Hall of Fame.  The journal dates back as far as 2003.  Some players just enjoy having it for the day, but some choose to have a bit of fun with it.  This "Cup" leads quite an eventful life.

There are at least 3 games left to watch, and 6 more if both teams really fight for it.  Swing by Wobbly Boots Roadhouse and watch with us.  We've got plenty of screens for everyone to watch on, drinks will be cold, and food will be hot.  The best possible way to watch the game if you can't be at the stadium.
