Brian Collins at the Boot - Friday, May 6, 2016

We are mainly known for cooking up the best BBQ in the Des Moines area, but on occasion we like to offer our customers even more than that. Every once in a while we are able to feature some incredible live entertainment on our Wobbly Boots Roadhouse stage. Friday, May 6 we are thrilled to have Brian Collins performing.

Brian Collins is slated as a true southern soul. His "Healing Highway" album's leadoff single, "Never Really Left," earned both national and international attention for the singer. He was named a CMT Discovery Artist, and the music video for his single spent seven weeks in the top five on CMT's Pure 12-Pack Countdown.

His sound can be described as a cross between the Eli Young Band, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, and Mark Broussard. Heavily influenced yet truly unique. Brian has shared the stage with the likes of KISS, Will Hoge, Sister Hazel, James Otto, the Zac Brown Band, the Smithereens, the Marshall Tucker Band, Georgia Satellites, Alabama, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Barenaked Ladies, and many more.

Brian credits his songwriting inspiration to the many different aspects and experiences in his life. One of these was the passing of his sister, Karen Collins, from leukemia in 1985. He co-wrote "She Will Ride" with close friend and Zac Brown Band bass player, John Driskell Hopkins in honor of his sister.

Karen's song became an anthem for finding a cure for cancer when Brian and Blue Light Entertainment co-founded the non-profit She Will Ride Foundation, which is dedicated to helping finance the search for a cure for cancer and leukemia in this lifetime. All contributions are redirected to several children's charities like St. Jude's Children's Hospital, National Children's Leukemia Foundation, Kingdom Kids, and other charities of choice.

Blue Light Studio is the studio dream that became a reality for Brian in 2005. He personally designed all of the recording rooms. These rooms have hosted the production/engineering of albums and tracks for many well-known entertainers: Skid Row, Tony Lucca, T.I., Twista, Frank White, Nic Cowan, and Tim O'Donovan to name a few. In 2013, Brian, along with partners Santos Vasquez and Tommy Smith, formed the LLC of Blue Light Entertainment. Blue Light Records came next in 2015.
