Confluence Brewing Company
This city is not only home to the best BBQ in Des Moines, but also this awesome brewery. They have been in business since 2012, but the dream began back in 1991 when John Martin, the company's head brewer, began playing around with beer made from grain crops found in Iowa. He researched, practiced, and taste-tested for a few years, then began Confluence Brewing Company with co-founder Ken Broadhead so you could all enjoy the results.
We feature 3 of their delicious beers on tap here at the Boot. Farmer John's is a refreshing blonde, multi-grain ale. Des Moines IPA is their American take on an India Pale Ale. We've also just added their seasonal Oktoberfest, which is a rich, amber-colored lager with a full-bodied, toasty flavor.
Exile Brewing Company
Des Moines boasts yet another amazing brewery with Exile Brewing Company. These guys describe themselves as "a hand-crafted brewery fueled by the passion of a burn-bright lifestyle and driven by a unique sense of gratitude for the customer, community, and the future of our land." Every beer they brew is a dedication to both European tradition and the quality of good old American hard work.
Right now we've got an Exile favorite on draft, Ruthie. It's a smooth gold lager with a robust body, named for the finest woman to ever have served a beer in 1950's Des Moines.
Boone Valley Brewing Company
Our next featured brewery is based in Boone. Their journey started out as a fun notion to make beer from a kit, but soon turned into a passion for brewing. After winning multiple awards for the beers created, it became obvious that Rick was good at this! Often referred to as the "Willie Wonka of Beers" and the "Phantom Brewer," his hobby turned into an incredible brewery we are proud to feature.
We have the delicious, medium-bodied Roxie Irish Red on tap. It is filled with complex malt flavors and aromas, and it's become a local favorite.
Peace Tree Brewing Company
Knoxville brings us this brewery that has called a former Nash Rambler car dealership home since 2010. The name comes from the historic grand sycamore that grew near the town of Red Rock, which was a meeting place for many generations of Native Americas, and later was a meeting place for fur traders too. The tree is this company's symbol because they hope their beers will be "shared with friends and strangers alike and act as a catalyst for conversations, new friendships, and important agreements - in line with the lore of the Peace Tree of Red Rock."
You'll find two of their tasty creations on tap at the Boot. Blonde Fatale is a Belgium-style blonde ale that is surprisingly smooth. We also have No Coast IPA, which is a big American IPA with tons of bitterness and loads of hop flavor with piney and citrus notes.
Firetrucker Brewery
The people behind Firetrucker Brewery in Ankeny live, breathe, and eat local. Local ingredients are always used in their beers. A sense of innovation, a sense of community, and the desire to improve life is at the forefront during the creation of each of their brews. You can always expect to get lots of flavor, while still maintaining a clean finish.
We feature their Pumper Truck Porter on tap. It comes out of the tap with a silky black appearance and a creamy head. The full, delicious flavor is made from brown and chocolate malts as well as roasted barley and hops.
You can get a taste of any one of these brilliant brews on tap at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Clive 7 days a week, while they last. As we mentioned, occasionally we'll switch up which beers we carry, but these awesome Iowa breweries will always find their way into our restaurant.
