Prime Rib at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse - The Best in Des Moines!

Prime Rib is one of the most savory, juicy, and flavorful cuts of meat you can get from a cow. Thursday, April 27 happens to be designated as National Prime Rib Day, and the perfect place to honor this delicious dish is at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Clive! We not only make the best BBQ in Des Moines, we're also experts at serving the most mouth-watering prime rib in town.

Why Is Prime Rib So Good?
Sometimes referred to as a standing rib roast, this particular cut of beef is the finest you will find. It is cut from the primal rib, one of the eight primal cuts of beef. The amount of marbling found on prime rib makes a big difference in the quality. The more fat that is woven throughout a particular cut, the more tender and juicy the final product will taste.

Prime Rib at the Boot
We take great care in the way we prepare prime rib at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse. Every piece is hand-cut, perfectly seasoned, and slow-smoked to perfection. 5 Simple Steps To BBQ Enjoyment

It's tough to truly enjoy the best BBQ in Des Moines without making a mess, but with a little bit of know-how, it can be done. (Although getting at least a little bit messy is part of the fun!) We've put together a few tips so that the next time you enjoy a meal at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Clive, you just might get out of here without the evidence of your BBQ meal all over you.

1. PREPARE
Before we even set that hickory-smoked goodness on the table in front of you, there are a few things that you can do to get ready. First, plan your wardrobe wisely. Dark clothing hides stains fairly well if they happen, but if you wear white, you're practically guaranteeing that the BBQ will land on your clothing at some point!

Next, make sure that napkins are placed strategically near you, and a small stash of wet naps close by will really come in handy too. Finally, make sure that there is plenty of space around you for that mountain of BBQ-smeared napkins that will be piling up so that they don't spill into your neighbor's personal dining space.

2. PICK YOUR FORM
The less-messy option for eating BBQ is to use a knife and fork. (But where's the fun in that?) Sometimes, the best thing to do is just pick it up and dig in! After all, you already prepared to get messy in step #1. If you use the tips of your fingers to hold those mouthwatering morsels, you may at least be able to contain most of the mess to the end of your hands.

3. LEAN IN
The best way to avoid getting sauce all over your clothes is to lean over your plate. That way, any of our housemade BBQ sauce that makes its way past your defenses will hopefully drip onto the plate rather than onto you. We completely understand if you forget about this step because you are so consumed with the euphoria of delicious flavors in your mouth that you get a bit distracted. If you've put one of those napkins in your lap, and maybe even tucked another into your shirt, your clothes may still be safe.

4. SAVOR
Hopefully you're eating with a group of people that don't mind letting you get kind of messy, because you need to take some time to savor the explosion of incredible hickory-smoked flavors that are happening. Your friends should be just as messy as you are at this point, and if they're not, then you know they're super jealous! Don't bother using napkins for every bit of BBQ that ends up on your hands. "Finger-licking good" is a common phrase around here for a very good reason.

5. CLEAN UP
Once you've "cleaned your plate," or at least eaten as much as your stomach can hold in one sitting, that's when you can worry about wiping away any last bits of your meal that didn't make their way into your mouth. (Hey, it happens!) You've got your trusty wet naps close by, and we've got plenty of soap in the bathroom if things really got out of hand.

There you go. Five simple steps to help you successfully make it through your meal at the best BBQ restaurant in Des Moines. Follow them and you just may leave as clean as you arrived. Of course, we won't think any less of you if you do head home a little more stained than when you arrived at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse. That's a sure sign that you enjoyed each and every moment of your BBQ dining experience!

Visit us often so that you can get in plenty of practice utilizing the tips above. Before long, you'll be a bonafide BBQ expert. Our last piece of advice for enjoying BBQ is this; don't sweat the sticky stuff, just dig in and savor the flavor!

The Surprising Health Benefits of Enjoying a Beer!

Friday, April 7, 2017 is designated as both National Beer Day AND World Health Day. What does Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Clive do with this type of information? Well, we research to find out if there are any health benefits tied to a big, frosty brew. You're all in luck too, because beer does have a few of those, and your favorite bar in Des Moines has listed them for you below.

National Beer Day
For over 13 years, beginning in 1920, Prohibition was enforced. This meant that it was illegal to buy or sell beer and alcohol in the United States. In March of 1933, President Franklin d. Roosevelt signed the Cullen-Harrison Act into law, meaning that U.S. residents could once again legally enjoy a drink.

Even though signed in March, the new law did not go into affect until April 7 of that year, which then became known as National Beer Day. Fun fact: the day before, April 6, is often referred to as New Beer's Eve because people were so excited about getting the chance to legally purchase a beer, they lined up outside their favorite breweries and pubs the night before!

World Health Day
This holiday is sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a global health awareness day. April 7 marks the founding of WHO, and they use it as an opportunity to draw worldwide attention to the important subject of global health. Topics of both mental and physical health are addressed, covering a variety of subjects.

Health Benefits of Beer
Enjoyed in moderation, beer actually has quite a few health benefits. If you stick to no more than 1-2 glasses a day, the following facts may be true for you.
  • Beer has a thinning effect on blood which can prevent the formation of clots, and the Vitamin B-6 from it helps to prevent build-up in the arteries, making it good for your cardiovascular health.
  • It can boost your level of "good cholesterol" by 10%-20%, helping to prevent coronary disease.
  • The antioxidant content of beer is equal to that of wine, and beer has more protein and Vitamin B than wine.
  • When compared to regular wine and cocktail drinkers, regular beer drinkers were found to have the lower blood pressure.
  • The silicon present in beer helps to increase bone density and protect your bones against osteoporosis. In one particular study, drinking 1-2 beers a day showed an increase in bone density for 4.5%. Be aware though, that people drinking 3+ brews a day actually lowered their bone density up to 5.2%.
  • Beer, especially the dark varieties, are a good source of soluble fiber. This is great for the digestive system.
  • Also a rich source of magnesium, it can aid in the prevention of kidney stones.
  • Beer is both high in potassium and low in sodium.
  • Age slower with beer! It increases the potency and impact of Vitamin E, which happens to be a major antioxidant that maintains healthy skin and slows the aging process.
  • In one Spanish study, researchers asked people to exercise until their body temperature reached 104 degrees. They then had some drink a beer and others drink water. The beer drinkers turned out to be slightly more hydrated.
