If you prefer your beverages without alcohol, we've got plenty of excellent choices to keep your thirst quenched. If, on the other hand, you're ready for a cocktail when you sit down to dinner, we've got the best bar in the Des Moines area for mixing up an incredible drink! There are a variety of libations for you to pick from, but the following beverages are some pretty popular choices.
Long Island Tea
Mixed correctly, this cocktail tastes tame, but in reality it packs quite a punch! Five different spirits combined with a bit of sweet & sour plus a dash of cola mixes in a way that tastes like a refreshing glass of iced tea, but with an added kick.
Margarita
Some people consider this more of a summer drink, but once you've tasted the amazing flavor, you won't care what time of year you're ordering this one. Sweet & sour is an ingredient in this cocktail too, but this time we mix it with tequila and a little triple sec. Salt the rim, toss a lime on it, and you're ready to go.
Cuba Libra
Ordering this one sounds fancy, but we've got a little secret for you. In reality, this is simply a Rum & Coke. What makes it a Cuba Libra? The addition of...
a slice of lime! Yep, that's it. Interestingly, that little bit of citrus does add a lot of flavor.
Tequila Sunrise
Tequila is the star of another popular drink here, but this time it's mixed with a healthy helping of orange juice. The "sunrise" comes in when the bartender adds just enough grenadine to make the cocktail appear as if a beautiful sunrise is taking place inside your glass.
Screwdriver
If you like orange juice but really aren't into tequila, then this may be more up your alley. Vodka is the spirit in this cocktail that gives you a dose of vitamin C with that little added kick.
Gimlet
Some of the best, classic cocktails don't take a lot to make. All it takes for a Gimlet is either gin or vodka, plus lime juice and ice. Easy to make, and delicious to drink.
Martini
Speaking of a classic, the martini is known wherever you go. It has also had many variations made of it over the years, including some unbelievable flavors. If you want to stay old-school, your martini will be made with either gin or vodka and a dash of vermouth, all shaken furiously in a tin with ice until it comes out cold and refreshing.
Moscow Mule
This is a specialty cocktail that we love making at the Boot. Sure, it tastes great, but that awesome copper mug that it is served in makes it extra cool (in more ways than one!) Inside that mug, we mix vodka, lime, and ginger beer.
Iowa Beer
While technically not a mixed drink, we can't resist mentioning our incredible selection of 18 draft beers, many of which are brewed right here in the good ol' state of Iowa. These change occasionally, depending on the season, but you can expect to see the following local brewing companies on our taps: Confluence, Exile, Peace Tree, and Boone Valley.
Like we mentioned earlier, we have lots of non-alcoholic choices for you to choose from too. These include:
- Pepsi & Diet Pepsi
- Dr. Pepper & Diet Dr. Pepper
- Mountain Dew & Diet Mountain Dew
- Mug Root Beer
- Sierra Mist Natural
- Crush Orange Soda
- Tropicana Lemonade
- Raspberry Brisk Iced Tea
- Fresh Brewed Sweet Tea, Unsweetened Tea, & Peach Tea
- Hot Coffee, Decaf Coffee, & Tea
