Menu Showdown: BBQ Plates vs. BBQ Sandwiches

This week's menu showdown is all about the way you prefer to eat the best BBQ in Des Moines - with or without the bread wrapped around it. Wobbly Boots Roadhouse specializes in cooking up the juiciest, tastiest, hickory-smoked meats, and we offer them in a few different ways on the menu. 

Smoked Meat Plates
First of all, let's talk about the delicious smoked meats that we prepare every single day. These include:

• Hand-Pulled Pork
• Sliced Turkey Breast
• Sweet Smoked Italian Sausage
• Applewood Smoked Ham
• Tender Smoked Brisket
• Our House Favorite Brisket Burnt Ends

Sure, you can order these in sandwich form, but those only come with one of our savory smoked meats. When ordered by the plate, you have the option of choosing 1, 2, or 3 meats! Eating your meal with a fork allows you to get more in your mouth and less on your hands, plus without the bun, you've got extra room in your stomach for more of that mouthwatering BBQ. 

We don't leave the bread out completely, because every order comes with a slice of Texas Toast, plus you get to pick out 2 or our home style side dishes. (You only get 1 with the sandwiches!) For a great big, hearty meal, a smoked meat plate is the best way to go. 

BBQ Sandwiches
Putting those amazing smoked meats on a fresh, toasted bun lets you get your hands around that awesome food and really dig in. BBQ always tastes better when you let yourself get a little messy. It adds to the entire experience. All of our BBQ is served wet (with sauce) but feel free to ask for it dry. (Except the Burnt Ends. Those are served with the sauce they are smoked in. Mmmmmm!!) 

The addition of bread is actually a good thing. After all, it is recommended that you get 6 servings of grain foods daily. It's a good source of fiber, and the carbohydrates in bread provide extra fuel for both your body and your brain. A great big sandwich and one of our incredible side dishes is the perfect way to satisfy your BBQ craving. If you want a bigger helping, we can easily add another 1/4-pound of meat to any sandwich. Your BBQ Sandwich choices include:

Bring Your Party To Us, Or Let Us Bring The BBQ To Your Party!

Fall means football season, and football season means Saturdays and Sundays (and Monday and Thursday nights!) with a table full of snacks to fuel your team spirit. You don't want to miss one second of your favorite team's game, so let the best BBQ restaurant in Des Moines do all of the cooking for you.

Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Clive knows how to masterfully create all of those tasty flavors everyone wants to chow down on during the game. You can bring your entire group to us, or choose to relax in the comfort of your own home and let us bring it all to you. 


Our Private Party Room
When you want to host all of your friends for the big game, but you don't really want to clean up your house and get it "party-ready," bring the gang to Wobbly Boots. We'll set you up in our private party space. There are 4 TVs in there with their own separate sound system from the restaurant. If this sounds like the perfect plan for you, here are a few of the details:

• A $100 deposit is required to hold the date, but once you show up, we'll use that money toward your final bill! (The deposit is nonrefundable if cancelled within 7 days of the party.)
• There is a 25 person minimum for the room to be private, and it fits up to 65 people. We will seat smaller groups in there, but other customers may be seated in the room as well.
• There is a $100 minimum Sunday-Thursday, and a $300 minimum on Friday & Saturday.
• Friendly service staff and talented bartenders are available for events at an additional charge.
• Prices are subject to change, so be sure to ask when you make your reservation.

Our menu for the private room is filled with all kinds of special items, and you can always order off of our full menu too. Let us know what you like, and we'll do our best to whip it up. The specials we have set up specifically for private parties are:

• Plated Prime Rib Dinner: This amazing dish is usually only offered on Friday and Saturday nights after 5 pm, but for you and your friends, we'll make an exception! Each plate will have a tender, juicy 12-oz. smoked prime rib, baked potato, and green beans, plus a garden salad.
• Platters: We make up small trays that will serve 15-30 people, and large trays that can serve 30-50 people. Among your platter choices are:
• Our amazing Chicken Wings
• Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
• Vegetables
• Fruit
• Dessert
• In-House Buffet: Your buffet setup will come with slider buns, our famous house-made BBQ sauce, and pickles. From there, you choose the hickory-smoked meats and homemade side dishes that you want to serve your guests. 
• 1 meat + 1 side
• 1 meat + 2 sides
• 2 meats + 1 side
• 2 meats + 2 sides
• 3 meats + 3 sides 

Our Awesome Delivery Service

The best caterers in Central Iowa just happen to work in our kitchen! We started receiving so many encouraging comments about how much people loved the private parties at the restaurant, we decided it would be a great idea to take Wobbly Boots Roadhouse BBQ Catering on the road. 

We need at least 24 hours notice to assure that we are able to bring the BBQ to you. For orders of $100 or more, we'll load up our hickory-smoked goodness into the Wobbly Boots catering van (you'll know it when you see it!) and head on over to your party. If you need a bit of extra help, our service staff and bartenders are available for an additional charge.

Our tasty side dishes are available by the pint, quart, and gallon. Payment is required at the time of delivery, and a 15% service charge may apply if the delivery falls outside of the Des Moines area.

New Menu = Delicious New Menu Items!

If you have been into our Des Moines BBQ restaurant recently or visited our website, you will have noticed the new menu. While it is still packed full of your Wobbly Boots Roadhouse favorites, there are a few delicious new additions that will get your mouth watering. Start making a list of all the new tastes you're going to try on your next visit!

Wobbly Wings - Hot Dijon Sauce
It's the same incredible hickory-smoked wings that you've come to love, but we've added a new sauce to the list. It's made up of a little hot mustard + buffalo sauce + some sweet... Delish!

Boneless Wings
Hand-breaded and fresh to order. A bountiful amount of all white chicken breast cut into wing size pieces and fried to a golden crisp perfection. These can be served plain or tossed in one of our amazing wing sauces, and they are served with bleu cheese or ranch sauce.

Sliders
Three slider buns filled with your choice of our smoked meats. You can choose one meat for every slider or a different meat for each one. 

Bacon-Shrimp Salad
A chilled salad bowl filled with mixed greens, bleu cheese crumbles, diced tomatoes, red onions, a hard-boiled egg, and finished with bacon wrapped shrimp.

Grilled Chicken Salad
Our giant chilled salad bowl filled with mixed greens, diced tomatoes, red onions, cheddar-jack cheese, mozzarella-provel cheese, bacon, and a hard-boiled egg. 

Honey Mustard Chicken Wrap
Our charbroiled chicken breast cooked perfectly with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, mozzarella-provel cheese, and our housemade honey mustard dressing, all served in a wheat tortilla.

Grilled Shrimp Wrap
Grilled jumbo shrimp with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheddar-jack cheese all wrapped up in a warm tomato basil tortilla. 

BBQ Chicken Flatbread
Our homemade BBQ sauce spread over our flatbread pizza crust, topped with smoked chicken breast, red onion, tomato, and mozzarella & provel cheeses. Outstanding flavor!

B-L-T Flatbread
We start with our thin flatbread pizza crust, spread our homemade cheese sauce, add mozzarella & provel cheeses, and top with smoked ham, bacon crumbles, lettuce, and tomato, then drizzle it with ranch dressing.

BBQ-Ranch Burger
A Tremendous Burger!! We cook our hand-pattied Black Angus burger to your liking, add our house BBQ sauce and ranch dressing, crispy bacon, and top it all with melted American cheese. You'll need your napkin with this juicy delight.

Smothered Queso Burger
Our handmade fresh Black Angus burger cooked to your liking. We serve it open faced on golden Texas toast and top it with sauteed mushrooms, green peppers and onions, all smothered in our homemade queso cheese sauce and cheddar-jack. You're gonna need a fork for this delicious treat.

WB Chicken Sandwich
Our all white chicken breast charbroiled to perfection and topped with our double smoked ham and Swiss cheese served on a toasted bun with a side of honey mustard.

The Griller Sandwich 
A customer favorite! Two slices of sourdough bread, American & Swiss cheeses, crisp bacon, smoked ham & turkey, all grilled to perfection.

Buffalo Chicken Sandwich
An all white chicken breast, breaded & fried to golden perfection, smothered in chipotle buffalo sauce and topped with crispy bacon and pepper-jack cheese. The best chicken sandwich around!

College Football + Wobbly Boots Roadhouse = A Great Saturday!

It's Football Season... FINALLY! Iowa loves college football, and the best place to watch sports in Des Moines is inside our BBQ restaurant. Wobbly Boots Roadhouse not only has all of the games for you, but also the most mouth-watering food and delicious drinks to enjoy while you cheer on your favorite teams. 

Hawkeyes & Cyclones   
This weekend the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones go head-to-head. That makes it a lot harder to pick a favorite this week, but man, it's gonna be a great game! After we enjoy a little healthy rivalry between our Iowa teams on Saturday, we'll be watching them take on many others throughout the upcoming season. We've Got A Few Great Ideas For Your Labor Day Plans

Labor Day Weekend is a a holiday to take some time for yourself to relax and enjoy a little down time with family and friends. It also happens to be the 3rd most popular holiday for BBQ (after the 4th of July and Memorial Day.)
