"We were a big group in town with our kids for a baseball tournament. Had reservations for 6:30 p.m. We were also a loud group and the staff put up with us and the cheers from the kids while they watched the Cubs game  Our waitress was great! She took good care of us and seemed unfazed with all of the confusion since the kids all sat together, then moms on one end of our tables and dads on the other end. The food was awesome as well. "I'm not good at trying new places so I just decided to go for it. I'm also a little bit picky. My burger was cooked to request and I was only able to eat half so it might be nice to share. The reason you would want to share is so you can eat all the onion rings. Big and crispy and perfect. I left lots of napkins on the table, my fingers were finger licking good. All condiments and extra napkins are already on the table and wait staff was timely and not in my face.Since it was my first time I wasn't prepared for the size of the bar. It's half of the restaurant with TV screens everywhere. It would be a great place to watch a game and have a bite to eat."

"First time for us. Quality food and service. We arrived at 6:15 pm on a Saturday night and thought for sure we would have to wait to be seated, no waiting got right in. Friendly greeting at the door and manager came around to check on us. Delicious smoked meat. Prime rib melts in your mouth. My husband had the 3 meat meal and they really pile on the meat. It made enough for two meals. Casual dining with great food and service. Definitely will be back again."

We can tell you that we're the best BBQ restaurant in Des Moines 'til we're blue in the face, but you'll always assume that we're a little biased. That's why we rely on customer reviews to get the word out about why you really should give us a try. It is greatly appreciated by us anytime a customer takes the time to tell us about their experience at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Clive, and we hope their words mean something to you too. 

"I tried the brisket chili and stuffed mushrooms; both were incredible. While I was there, I observed the kitchen manager bring out a sample of mac and cheese to the manager. The two agreed that the side dish was not good enough, and opted to discard the entire batch and start fresh. They refused to serve an item that was inconsistent with its typical quality. This is what separates the great businesses from the good ones. There was a big party room separate from the main dining area, and I was told it can be reserved with a private buffet line for special events. This would be a great place for a corporate event or wedding rehearsal dinner. Looking forward to going back."

"On short notice, Wobbly Boots put together a great space for our family to gather after a funeral. We served multiple appetizers along with a buffet of meats and sides for sliders. The servers were excellent. Food was fantastic. Our favorites were the stuffed mushrooms, bacon wrapped shrimp, and fried pickles. Everyone LOVED the macaroni and cheese too. The private dining space is perfect for a large family gathering or any other group!!"

"Had a nice, unplanned lunch. We ordered three meals: pulled pork sandwiches, turkey wrap, mac and cheese, fries. The food was fresh and warm. The bbq sauce was spicey and tasty. Plenty of leftovers. "We have been there twice in the last two weeks. The first time was for lunch, and seeing that our favorite entertainer from the Lake of the Ozarks, was going to be there the next week, we decided to go back. The staff was very accommodating and made reservations for us up front, to be close to Dale Blue. The food was very good and the portions very generous. The tenderloin was huge and delicious, the smoked meatloaf was very good, and the brisket sandwich was so lean and tender. We had a very fun evening and will be back. We live 90 miles from D.M."

"I recently rented their party room for my wife's birthday. We had about 50 people and it worked out great! They let us decorate and arrange the room however we needed. The staff (Brian and Abby) were outstanding!! It was whatever we needed, whenever we needed it. You can run your own video on one of their big screens and watch whichever games you want. Oh, and the food, everyone raved about it. I can't wait until the next celebration because I am doing it at Wobbly Boots!"

"When in Des Moines we typically stay at a hotel near Wobbly Boots. We've seen the restaurant many times but finally had the chance to try it. We were not disappointed and will definitely make a stop here again. With 5 of us eating, not one was disappointed. Everything had great flavor. "My wife and I went here with my brother and his wife on a Thursday evening. We had a marvelous time! Atmosphere was Down Home Western with a touch of Southern. The decor is very nice here and the acoustics make for an intimate kind of visit in that its not too noisy, you can carry on a conversation and the place still had a lively feel. The food was excellent! We had the Smoked Meat Trio, and it was prepared well. It was very tasty and they managed to maintain the moisture while sealing in the flavor! The place was very clean and the wait staff is top shelf! We would definitely go again and the only thing keeping this establishment from getting a 5 from me is the fact that they do have wine but no selection. My choices were Cabernet, Merlot, and white! Hahaha! But in all it was a very enjoyable evening!"

"I am not going to lie to you. Whoever came up with the idea of smoked meatloaf deserves a statue somewhere in their honor. This place does it better than most! Good sized portions of great tasting meat with just the right amount of smokiness made it a perfect dinner. Good selection of local beer on tap to wash it down. Guy next to me had the burnt ends which smelled and looked very good too...he wouldn't take his eyes off them for long enough to steal one so I guess I'll have to come back another time. "We had 46 people for a rehearsal dinner and they have a private room that was perfect. The guests loved the pulled pork and beef brisket. Our server Brian did an awesome job keeping up with everything. Tom was easy to work with organizing the party and making suggestions. The prices were reasonable. "We had sides of the cheesy corn and ham - yummy beyond words, sweet potato fries that actually tasted like sweet potatoes and the coleslaw. The cole slaw is plain with just a little dressing that is nicely sweet. They don't add any frills like poppy seeds or peppers or weird things. I LOVED it. I don't want a lot of stuff in my slaw. We asked what the potato salad was like and our server brought us a small sample. It was made with red potatoes, dill, onions and of course egg. It was very good."

The restaurant and grounds were spotless, the patio was beautiful, the service was fast, and the food was delicious and big enough portions we almost all had enough leftovers for today's lunch. The prices are about the same as many other local restaurants that have smaller portions. The icing on the cake was the service. Our drinks were refilled quickly and the food we ordered for our 2 year old came out almost instantly, making it easier for us to all enjoy the stay.
