We've Got Confluence Brewery On Tap!

Your favorite BBQ restaurant near Des Moines loves to feature local breweries on tap.  We always make room in our lineup of 18 draft beers to include some refreshing, Iowa-brewed choices.  Confluence Brewery out of Des Moines is one that Wobbly Boots Roadhouse customers have become quite fond of.

Way back in 1991, Confluence Brewing Company's head brewer, John Martin, had the idea to attempt to make a raisin-almond beer.  This, as you might suspect, was not a success.  (Raisin-almond?  ICK!)  This did lend to a fascination with how many things could be made using Iowa's own grain crops.

Later, in 1995, John and his wife picked up home brewing supplies while on their honeymoon.  After years of research and practice, John along with co-founder Ken Broadhead, started Confluence Brewing Company just 3 short years ago in 2012.  The brewery is made up of these fella's love for both Iowa and craft beer.  (For the full story, check out their website.)

All of the trial and error that went into the original attempts resulted in three delicious flagship beers, two of which are served right here from our Wobbly Boots Roadhouse taps.

Farmer John's
photo from Confluence Brewing Company
A refreshing blonde, multi-grain ale that is lightly hopped with earthy English East Kent Goldings hops and sweet, floral Czech Saaz hops. The base is made up of two row America barley malt, wheat malt, and a small dose of rye malt and un-malted oats, corn, and wheat.

Des Moines IPA
This is their American take on an India Pale Ale.  You will taste citrusy and piney hops from the Pacific Northwest along with the malt flavor of two-row barley and medium crystal malts.

Throughout the year, they also put out some incredible seasonal and limited beers.

Des Moines Iowa's Confluence Brewery offers taproom tours throughout the week, but you can enjoy their savory craft beers right here at your favorite BBQ restaurant near Des Moines.  Give one a try alongside our award-winning BBQ, or stop by and enjoy them for Happy Hour.  You'll always find the very best of Iowa right here at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse.

Customers Are Raving About Wobbly Boots Roadhouse

We strive to be the best BBQ restaurant in the Des Moines area.  We want to be the first place that pops into your mind when you are deciding where to go to eat or to stop for Happy Hour.  We rely on the reviews from all of you to let us know what you like about our restaurant and what you would like to see more of.  Here are a few of our favorites.

"We had 46 people for a rehearsal dinner and they have a private room that was perfect. The guests loved the pulled pork and beef brisket. Our server Brian did an awesome job keeping up with everything. Tom was easy to work with organizing the party and making suggestions. The prices were reasonable. If we're back in the area we would come here again."
- Brian K., Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin

"The food was great and service was solid as well. Great wings and brisket. Word to the Boot!"
-Jeremy B., West Des Moines, IA

"We had sides of the cheesy corn and ham - yummy beyond words, sweet potato fries that actually tasted like sweet potatoes and the coleslaw. The cole slaw is plain with just a little dressing that is nicely sweet. They don't add any frills like poppy seeds or peppers or weird things. I LOVED it. I don't want a lot of stuff in my slaw. We asked what the potato salad was like and our server brought us a small sample. It was made with red potatoes, dill, onions and of course egg. It was very good."
-K9 Trainer, West Des Moines, IA

"Best meatloaf I ever had...sorry Mom! Love the smoked flavor. Clean and comfortable. Huge room with plenty of seating at table or bar. Friendly staff."
-Todd Wilson

"The whole family came out for dinner last night. Every aspect was fantastic. The restaurant and grounds were spotless, the patio was beautiful, the service was fast, and the food was delicious and big enough portions we almost all had enough leftovers for today's lunch. The prices are about the same as many other local restaurants that have smaller portions. The icing on the cake was the service. Our drinks were refilled quickly and the food we ordered for our 2 year old came out almost instantly, making it easier for us to all enjoy the stay. We will definitely be back AND recommend this business to anyone looking for a place to eat."
-Rhonda Brackett, West Des Moines, IA

"I am a bit of a food snob, but I love this place! Great atmosphere and loved the BBQ! Good meat and good sauce and the sides were great especially the cheesy corn with ham! Great service too!"
-Kerry Richards

"Great atmosphere, smelled delicious, great food! Staff was really nice with a smile and always refilled my drink before I had to ask. Ate a tenderloin sandwich with side of Mac and cheese. Both smelled, looked and tasted great! Will be back soon and will bring friends!" -Dominique Combs, Chandler, AZ

"OMG! This place is AWESOME! The food will blow your mind on how Great it taste. The staff was super friendly and attentive to our needs. Asked for the manager, to let him know how Wonderful our experience was, and he sat down and treated us like family for the length of our conversation. Right now this place is the best kept secret. I know once everyone tries them ... this will no longer be the case. Bravo Wobbly Boots!" -Robert O'Brien
