Brian Collins at the Boot - Friday, May 6, 2016

We are mainly known for cooking up the best BBQ in the Des Moines area, but on occasion we like to offer our customers even more than that. Every once in a while we are able to feature some incredible live entertainment on our Wobbly Boots Roadhouse stage. Friday, May 6 we are thrilled to have Brian Collins performing.

Brian Collins is slated as a true southern soul. His "Healing Highway" album's leadoff single, "Never Really Left," earned both national and international attention for the singer. He was named a CMT Discovery Artist, and the music video for his single spent seven weeks in the top five on CMT's Pure 12-Pack Countdown.

His sound can be described as a cross between the Eli Young Band, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, and Mark Broussard. Heavily influenced yet truly unique. Brian has shared the stage with the likes of KISS, Will Hoge, Sister Hazel, James Otto, the Zac Brown Band, the Smithereens, the Marshall Tucker Band, Georgia Satellites, Alabama, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Barenaked Ladies, and many more.

Brian credits his songwriting inspiration to the many different aspects and experiences in his life. One of these was the passing of his sister, Karen Collins, from leukemia in 1985. He co-wrote "She Will Ride" with close friend and Zac Brown Band bass player, John Driskell Hopkins in honor of his sister.

Karen's song became an anthem for finding a cure for cancer when Brian and Blue Light Entertainment co-founded the non-profit She Will Ride Foundation, which is dedicated to helping finance the search for a cure for cancer and leukemia in this lifetime. All contributions are redirected to several children's charities like St. Jude's Children's Hospital, National Children's Leukemia Foundation, Kingdom Kids, and other charities of choice.

Blue Light Studio is the studio dream that became a reality for Brian in 2005. He personally designed all of the recording rooms. These rooms have hosted the production/engineering of albums and tracks for many well-known entertainers: Skid Row, Tony Lucca, T.I., Twista, Frank White, Nic Cowan, and Tim O'Donovan to name a few. In 2013, Brian, along with partners Santos Vasquez and Tommy Smith, formed the LLC of Blue Light Entertainment. Blue Light Records came next in 2015.

Don't Miss Brian, Friday, May 6 at the Boot!
If you would like to know even more about this amazing man, you can check out his website at www.BrianCollinsMusic.com. He sounds incredible in his recordings, but his live show is unbelievable! Don't miss Brian Collins on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the best BBQ restaurant in Des Moines. Once you experience his music at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, we're willing to bet you will be an immediate fan.

Great Reviews From Happy Wobbly Boots Customers - Thank You!

The best BBQ in Des Moines is a result of hard work and the great recipes that we have perfected over time. The kind reviews that we are given inspire us to keep doing what we are doing, striving daily to make sure that every customer that walks through our doors leaves with a full belly and a big smile on their face. Take a look at what these people thought about their visit to Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Clive.

"This is a well run sports bar / restaurant with friendly management, fun and helpful staff, lots of entertainment, strong drinks and good old down home Midwest food! We came five nights in a row last week because it was close to our motel, it was snowing like crazy and we were dead tired. But you know what? It was the highlight of our trip! Just a great place!"
SCinRB, Redondo Beach, CA, TripAdvisor review

"Wobbly Boots is good eating! I had a half order of onion rings as an appetizer...huge, great batter, and very delicious! I had the catfish dinner with mac and cheese and green beans for dinner. The catfish was fried and seasoned very well, and the mac and cheese was the bomb! I will definitely return to try the BBQ. The service was great and the staff was friendly."
Maria J, Johnston, IA, Yelp review

"Great food and excellent service last Friday night I appreciated the friendly service and overall atmosphere. The prime rib was a pleasant surprise along with great sides Left the place full and will definitely return to try other menu options."
Ryan Roy, Des Moine, IA, Facebook review

"I love the wait staff and the food at Wobbly Boots. Jenna is my main gal. She takes good care of me. Brian, the manager is obviously a good leader of this group of competent people. I go there as often as I can. I have held two group events there. One was for around 40 and they pulled it off without a hitch. I highly recommend them."
J.R., Polk City, IA, Yelp review

"My wife and I went here with my brother and his wife on a Thursday evening. We had a marvelous time! Atmosphere was Down Home Western with a touch of Southern. The decor is very nice here and the acoustics make for an intimate kind of visit in that its not too noisy, you can carry on a conversation and the place still had a lively feel. The food was excellent! We had the Smoked Meat Trio, and it was prepared well. It was very tasty and they managed to maintain the moisture while sealing in the flavor! The place was very clean and the wait staff is top shelf! We would definitely go again and the only thing keeping this establishment from getting a 5 from me is the fact that they do have wine but no selection. My choices were Cabernet, Merlot, and white! Hahaha! But in all it was a very enjoyable evening!"
LASHO211, Wildwood, GA, TripAdvisor review

"I am not going to lie to you. Whoever came up with the idea of smoked meatloaf deserves a statue somewhere in their honor. This place does it better than most! Good sized portions of great tasting meat with just the right amount of smokiness made it a perfect dinner. Good selection of local beer on tap to wash it down. Guy next to me had the burnt ends which smelled and looked very good too...he wouldn't take his eyes off them for long enough to steal one so I guess I'll have to come back another time. Sean kept my beer glass full."
Jeff C., Norman, OK, Yelp review

Local Brew on Tap: Firetrucker Brewery

We know for a fact that we have the best beer in Des Moines due to the fact that we carry a nice variety of Iowa-made brews on tap. Among these local beers, we are thrilled to offer Firetrucker Brewery. This incredible brewery helps to make Wobbly Boots Roadhouse's draft beer selection the best in town.

photo from www.Firetrucker.com

We aren't the only ones that think Firetrucker is pretty amazing. According to Yahoo Travel and Untappd, they are the #1 brewery in Iowa! This is most likely due to the care and love that they put into every beer they create. Firetrucker sees beer as two things: beer is art, and beer is awesome! (No wonder we love them so much.)

The Art of Beer

A sense of innovation, a sense of community, and the desire to improve life is at the forefront during the creation of every Firetrucker beer. It brings people together, allowing them to take the time to enjoy the simple, yet finer, things in life. All of these brews are loaded with flavor while maintaining a clean finish. From their everyday offerings to the monthly seasonal beers, you will not be disappointed.

Local Love

These guys live, breathe, and eat local. They show their appreciation for the community support they receive by supporting their community. Local ingredients are always used, and they support central Iowa by getting involved with local charity and community events.

Wobbly Boots' Classic BBQ Dinners - SO GOOD!

You will find a lot of different tasty choices for everyone on the Wobbly Boots Roadhouse menu, but you simply can't have a BBQ restaurant without featuring a few classic dishes.

Our BBQ restaurant near Des Moines starts out by generously coating the meats in our special dry rub, then we hickory-smoke them low and slow until they reach maximum flavor and tenderness. Then we add the best complement possible to enhance the taste even more - our house-recipe BBQ sauce.

We hope you come in often enough to give everything on our menu a try, but if you're a first-timer to Wobbly Boots BBQ, we highly suggest one of our classic BBQ dinners.

Baby Back Ribs

A 2-pound slab of tender, meaty ribs coated with our dry rub & slow-smoked. It's then lightly grilled and basted with our secret recipe sauce before serving.

Hickory Smoked Half-Chicken

Our classic chicken dinner! It's spice-rubbed, hickory-smoked, and glazed in our very own homemade BBQ sauce.

BBQ Chicken & Ribs Combo

A delicious combination of mouthwatering 'que for the person that just can't decide. You get both 1/2 a BBQ chicken & 1/2 a slab of baby back ribs. Oh yeah!

That's not all!

Once again, for the indecisive BBQ connoisseur, we will let you choose one of our mouth-watering smoked meats (hand-pulled pork, beef brisket, burnt ends, turkey breast, pit ham, or smoked sausage) to eat alongside either a 1/2-slab of ribs or a 1/2-BBQ chicken.

All of these flavorful classic BBQ dinners are served with two home style side dishes of your choice and a big ol' piece of Texas toast. These include:

  • Seasoned Curly Fries
  • Legendary Baked Beans
  • Gourmet Potato Salad
  • Creamy Cole Slaw
  • Green Beans w/ Bacon
  • Smashed Potatoes & Gravy
  • Cheesy Corn w/ Ham
  • Baked Potato
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Cup of Mac & Cheese
The following are also available for a small up-charge:
  • Sweet potato Fries
  • Boat of Mac & Cheese
  • Garden Salad
  • Cup of Soup
  • 1/2-order of Onion Rings

The next time you are in the mood for some real, down-home, hickory-smoked, finger lickin' good, classic BBQ, head on over to the best BBQ restaurant in the Des Moines area. We've got a plate to please everyone in your group. When it comes to delicious, no one does it better than Wobbly Boots Roadhouse
